Today we were pleased to have District Governor Linda McLerie & Assistant District Governor Peter Warren attend our meeting

District Governor Linda McLerie

Linda gave us a very detailed history of Rotary and how, coming into its 100th year, the words of Paul Harris still ring true: “This is a changing world; we must be prepared to change with it. The story of Rotary will have to be written again and again.”

This statement is just as relevant today as it was in 1935. As the world changes so Rotary needs to change. We have to accommodate our young thirty something Rotarians who are raising a family and we need to pay less attention to attendance and more attention to engaging with Rotary.

It’s not about how many meetings we made in a month but the difference that we have made to our community.

In conjunction with the amazing work that you do within your community, I encourage you to engage
with the young people in your community.
Develop mentoring programs within your high schools, engage with your local Rotaract club or interact club.

Send young people to RYLA, RYPEN, Handicamp, National Youth Science Forum. Engage with Rotary Youth Exchange by sponsoring and hosting a student. The youth are our future and we need to foster them now.

This year sees Rotary celebrate 100 years of the Rotary Foundation.
