Past President Garry did a great job facilitating the Debrief of Bricktober.  With his eye on the details, he organised for feedback to be provided prior to our meeting this morning so everyone had a chance to see what others had written.

Copies of the document were circulated by email to all members, and additional copies were available at the meeting this morning.

Congratulations go to the Club for what was a fantastic weekend.  The feedback from the public was very positive, and many indicated that they would be back next year.  Garry made the comment that Bricktober is a complex event - there are many facets to it and to get it to work well for us needs our commitment all year so that planning can continue to be done throughout the year.  Acknowledgement to all those 'behind-the-scenes' workers needs to be made as well.

A question that he posed to the group was whether we look to build the event, embracing new possibilities, or do we try to maintain it at its present size.  That is certainly something that the club will need to discuss in more detail.  It was felt that a dedicated committee needs to be set up to get the planning and preparation done that is required to continue to make this a successful fundraising project for the club.  Garry stressed that we could not rely on one or two people to do the majority of the work; but that everyone needs to be involved in some way.

Our next set of actions needs to be around creating that committee; and also developing a plan for the disbursement of funds to the nominated projects that the profits were to go to.  These included the eradication of polio; contributing to Rotary Foundation; topping up the Arthur Bray Scholarship Funds within our club; and to set up one or more "Autism-friendly Lego Playgroup/s" in the area.

We have lots to think about before we get ready for our next Bricktober in October 2016.

Thank you everyone for your contribution to the feedback session we had today.  Well done.
