Rotary Dictionaries Received in Rwanda

220 Rotary dictionaries plus 1,700 reading books were donated by Langley elementary and high schools to six locations in the Eastern and Northern Province in Rwanda.
The donations represented the first libraries for public schools in the province which do not have any reading materials available for children.

The Rwanda educational system has advanced considerably after the 1994 genocide. The Rwandan government has set very high standards and goals that every child is educated through to grade twelve equivalency.
Within the last three years, the Rwandan national language has been changed from French to English, meaning that there is hardly any English schoolmaterial for the students and teachers. Even most of the teachers don’t speak or teach in English because they lack training and materials.
Grace Rwanda Society, a Langley based charitable organization, was founded by Elizabeth Johnson and Marie Louise Kaligirwa. Elizabeth and Marie Louise are both Rwandan 1994 Genocide survivors who have a vision for their country.
Their vision consisted of assisting in the educational advancement of the children within rural areas in their homeland country of Rwanda.
