Rotary at Work

Ajay Caleb described the Rotary at Work program which helps people with disabilities find employment. Disabilities covers a wide range of people and the barriers they face are quite diverse.
Hiring a disabled person should be a business decision, not a " feel good " choice. It is a long term investment. Disabled people lose fewer work days to sick time, tend to stay with an employer longer and often have more focus on the job.
In British Columbia, Community Living B.C. will work with potential employers to assess the needs of the particular job, find a disabled person who is able to do the necessary work and help train them to do the job.
District 5050 is looking to start the Rotary at Work program here in our District. There is a need for "champions in the community to hire persons with disabilities to get traction for the program.
