Tonight we saw Razia Jan, a favorite speaker of our club. She is the principal fundraiser, mother, educator and trusted confidant  of girls and young women at her school in Afghanistan. Razia is a fervent supporter of the US military and has helped them gain the trust of people in small villages in Afghanistan.

We saw a video of the girls in their school, using the computer, playing with others and being educated, a task that previously seemed impossible for them. It was great to see the same gentleman that she showed us three years ago, who didn't want her to teach girls, talking about how wonderful it is that their daughters can read as they don't have to go to the local mullah anymore to read their mail. The girls face many perils for wanting an education in Afghanistan and it was wonderful to see them so happy. We were able to raise $1500 for her efforts which will help 5 girls be educated for a year. Razia expects to graduate her first class in 2015 and that will be a special day. She hopes to put in place extended education as the young woman most likely will remain in their village. Thank you Razia for spreading your enthusiasm and helping to make a difference in the world!
