With November being Rotary Foundation month, it is a good time to be reminded that everything The Rotary Foundation (TRF) achieves – from paying for Polio vaccine to teaching children to read – is possible because of the work and the contributions of Rotarians and friends of Rotary.  Beginning in 1917, when Arch Klumph put forward the idea of an endowment fund, TRF continues toward its initial objective of doing good work in the world. Here are three things you should know about TRF:

  1. The Foundation is working on its primary goal of eradicating Polio.  Through PolioPlus, which was initiated in 1985, TRF has led a global effort to rid the world of this crippling disease. To date, TRF has contributed over $1B toward that goal. Rotary’s $200M Challenge is the Foundation’s response to the $355M in challenge grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to achieve a polio-free world. The good news is that we’re almost there, but more needs to be done.
  2.  The Foundation changes lives.  Through the resources and programs of TRF, Rotarians carry our far-reaching projects based on Rotary’s areas of focus. As examples, communities have access to safe water and health care, and benefit from the work of Rotary Peace Fellows because of the Foundation.

  3.  You make it possible.  The Foundation is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and others who share our vision of a better world. And because of the Foundation’s impact – and the close monitoring of projects – giving to TRF is a financially sound decision.

We all should be proud of the achievements of our Foundation – it tells the world we care. Consider participating in those achievements by making a contribution to TRF today.
