Meet New Member Dr. William Davis

Bill Davis was born in Moline IL and grew up in in Rockford IL.  His first hobby was Amateur Radio, getting his Novice license while in 7^th grade.  It provided him the opportunity to communicate with other hams worldwide and have a chance to build lots of neat electronic gadgets.  He was also heavily involved in Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts.  So you have the picture: a kid living in his basement, involved in amateur radio and rarely dating; a nerd!  Bill graduated from Luther College in Decorah IA in 1962.  With majors in math and Greek, he then graduated from Luther Theological Seminary in St Paul in 1967, and from medical school and family medicine residency training at the University of Minnesota in 1974.  He spent 2 years in the Navy at Orlando at the end of the Vietnam War before moving to Winona in 1976.  Dr. Davis have been on the staff of Winona Health for over 35 years.

In addition to his teaching and practice of Family Medicine, he developed an interest in electronic medical records and had the first fully functional EMR in Minnesota starting in 1987.  Dr. Davis currently works full time at Winona Health doing office practice 3/4ths of the time and ¼th helping promote the EMR with his colleagues.  In addition to serving as the Chief Medical Information Officer at WH, he also serves as the chairman of the Medical Ethics Committee.  He is active in Central Lutheran Church and has been a member of the Junto Club and the Roundtable Investment Club for 34 years.  Junto Club members present a paper once a year.  His investment club has perfected the art of buying high and selling low.

Other interests and hobbies include: amateur radio, learning to create web sites, working with computer programing, riding my recumbent bicycle, and trying to relearn playing the guitar and reading Greek.
