Group Study Exchange
Group Study Exchange is an extensive Rotary program. It brings to a Rotary district 4 young foreign professionals (non-Rotarians) to the USA for a month-long visit. They are led by a Rotarian, so a GSE team is composed of 5 persons. In return, a group of young American professionals, led by a Rotarian, get to visit a foreign country.
A club can request to host a team for 4-5 nights that the team is in the district. Local host Rotarians take in one of the GSE team members. The host provides a room to the guest, breakfast and dinner (usually), access to laundry if needed, and nowadays access to internet if that is available. It is a chance to learn about other peoples and cultures, and to share our way of life as well. During work hours, you would not be responsible for them as they are usually doing tours, visits to companies and offices, and day visits to nearby clubs.
This year's inbound GSE team will be coming from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. As usual, there will be 5 of them. They will be in the district April 6 to May 4. We may be able to host the team in Winona, but first we must find out if there would be enough Winona Rotarians willing and able to host at least one of the GSE team members. We would not know what week of their stay they would be in Winona (if at all) until closer to the date.
Kindly let Gabe Manrique know if you would be interested in hosting a member of the GSE team as soon as possible.
It is a great Rotary experience!
