After the success of our Easter Bunny project, we looked at other ways to provide support for our vulnerable senior citizens as they continued their isolation from family and friends. This time, having looked at a number of retirement villages and establishments in our community, we decided to provide support for the residents of the Uniting 'Mawarra' Retirement Village in West Pennant Hills.
The manager of the village suggested we look at providing a range of books for residents to share. They had a small library but additional books would be a great support. We also decided to provide a range of puzzle books - crosswords, sudoku, etc. We collected a large number of secondhand books and purchased enough puzzle books for most of the 47 villas/apartments. The books and puzzle books were packed into carry bags donated by Harris Farm Markets, Pennant Hills, and delivered to the village together with a gift card from the club to each resident household. Again these gifts were greatfully received by the manager and distributed to the residents who were very appreciative.
