Another Successful ‘TREE OF JOY’ at Pennant Hills Marketplace

This was our fourth year of running the ‘Tree of Joy’ at Pennant Hills Marketplace. As in previous years, we received much support and encouragement from the businesses in the centre, as well as from the centre management, Banna Property Group. Once again, we were fortunate to have the Westpac Bank, Manager Emma Tippett and their staff providing security for the gifts as they arrived.

This year we gathered gifts for Stewart House – providing short-term respite care for children in need from state schools throughout NSW and ACT; Parramatta Mission – supporting families and individuals in need throughout the Sydney region; Pennant Hills Neighbour Aid – providing support for the frail aged and disabled in the nearby community areas; the Salvation Army; and, for the first time this year, the Exodus Foundation at Ashfield.

The local community again rose to the occasion providing gifts well in excess of the numbers in past years. Though most were in response to cards taken from the tree in the shopping centre, we were amazed at how many were given without having taken a card. The generosity of the community and the spirit in which the gifts were given certainly ensures that this project will continue as a permanent part of our club’s community service programme.
