HISTORY OF THE EVENT
With a goal of creating a scenic race that could get participants off the road and into Whistler's natural trail systems while serving as a fundraiser, club members Thomas, Liz, Shannon and Hannah created the Brandywine Boogie.
Originally designed as a 10-kilometre route ending at Brandywine Falls, it modernly operates as a 9 km run and 7.5 km walk. It starts in Cheakamus Crossing and winds along the scenic, double-track Sea to Sky Trail, crossing river bridges and gravel tracks before finishing at the Cal-Cheak Campground.
Backed by local sponsors like Helly Hansen and Nesters Market, the Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium continues to run the event each September, ensuring that miles covered on the trails of British Columbia translate directly into life-changing resources across the world
FUNDRAISING
Through participant registration, donations and sponsorships, the continues to raise much needed funds. Recipients of the funds have included:
WORCA - The intention behind wanting to partner with WORCA was to share information and awareness of both organizations, to further educate our Club and community about WORCA (for those new in town or not bike riders) and importantly, to give back to the trails we run and ride on.
Zero Ceiling - Zero Ceiling aims to eradicate youth homelessness and raise the quality of life for young people at risk of homelessness from Vancouver through the Sea to Sky Corridor
EEMPS - Through supporting the education of children, the funds have filtered through the community providing a much larger impact.
