Ibrahim Kalif spoke about One Community Bridge. It is nonprofit organization enriching people’s lives in Rice County. They offer community-based programs and services to youth and their families.
Vision is to provide a safe environment, motivate the youth and get them to take part in activities that range from education to sports to civic engagement. They host community events so families can feel a sense of belonging to the community and recently hosted an annual event to kick off the school year. Classes about financial literacy are offered. The teens were able to go to the MN Zoo together.
Benefits- a focus on staying away from negative influences, substances, violence, radicalization and other behaviors that can be detrimental to you. They focus on literacy. The majority of the students come from Kenya, Mexico, Somali and Ethiopia. OCB offers mentoring, tutoring and job readiness training for students in need.
