Theresa Volt shared her classification speech with the club! Theresa was born in Faribault. She has been married 24 years, has 8 children and 15 grandchildren (plus a bonus grandson). She is from a family of 8. Theresa has a deep love for animals. With 7 horses and 8 dogs of her own, she still opens her home to foster more animals in need (currently has 5 puppies in her home).
She attended nursing school at age 30 and received her LPN. After adopting her children, she stopped nursing. She then worked for Fit4LIfe and soon took on the care of her parents. Theresa has attended River Valley Church for 7 years.
Currently, Theresa is the Executive Director of Rescue 55021. The board consists of four members and Theresa gave a big shout out to her husband for being a big supporter of her and the rescue. The rescue is 100% funded by donations ($122,000 annually) and is run by volunteers only. An interesting fact she shared with the group is that only 41% of Americans volunteer. Theresa believes in volunteering for life. Truly, our dear member is embodying Rotary's values. Service above self!
***just for fun- when asked what is the most interesting animal ever surrendered at the rescue Theresa responded with a big smile- "14 Alpacas!", as well as a funny story about 2 rats she wasn't thrilled to have to deal with. Re-home your own rats, please. Theresa isn't a fan.
