Throughout his youth he was active in school and sports at Bethlehem Academy, Jacob was the Vice President of the student council and was on the Basketball, Soccer, Track, and kicker on the football team. Jacob went to Gustavus and majored in sports medicine. While at Gustavus he continued volunteering with child mentoring programs and providing first aid at the special Olympics.
