Today’s Presentation: 106th President Mark Kenney & Incoming 107th President Brandon Gliem
Club Assembly to talk about things that the club has been doing and things to come. Club visioning has helped with establishing goals for the club.
Vision statement – Faribault Rotary Club is where community leaders come together to take action. Together, we create lasting impact in our community and beyond by living Rotary’s values of fellowship and service above self.
Mark talked about all the great things that Rotarians do regularly and mentioned the Viaduct Park Rotary Splash pad as one recent success – great seeing all of the community engagement in using the new splash pad.
What does success in 2028 look like?

Goals…
Goal #1 – increase our local impact – By 2028, we will significantly
increase Club and Community use of the Rotary camp, so it becomes a recognized and valued gathering place that expands our local impact.
What are some signals of success? They would include more pride in the camp, sustainable fiscally, increased # of rentals, and used by more groups.
Rotary Camp updates from Ryan Holmquist – Rotary Faribault has
partnered with the Cedar Lake Association to help clean up the lake.
There is a pump underneath the dock that will help clean water clarity. Also distributed discs to help clean phosphorus to improve the water clarity.
Some other items Ryan mentioned: Cedar Lake Electric put an outlet near the dock and trails on the property have been cleared recently making it very nice to walk the property.
Ryan also mentioned that the River Bend Nature Center will be doing seven different programming days at the Rotary Camp this summer. Ryan answered questions from Rotarians about the camp.
Goal #2 – increase our global impact – By 2028, we will actively explore international projects and partnerships aligned with Rotary’s values, so that we meaningfully increase our global impact.
Brandon talked about helping Dadaab Refugee Camp in Kenya.
Explained the idea of Rotary of Faribault helping those that live here that came from the refugee camps and finding out how we can help those still living in those refugee camps. Brandon referenced how impactful Ibrahim Khalif’s presentation was recently and how this idea was talked about more.
Another option for increased global impact is to help young people in
Liberia –Nick Sonpon’s ongoing efforts were mentioned and the Faribault Rotary trying to help provide scholarships for young people there.
Goal #3 – expand our reach – By 2028, we will grow our membership to 85 members so that our club reflects the diversity, energy and leadership of the Faribault community.
What are some signals of success? Increase in number of members, more guests coming to meetings, and more representation from local (major) employers.
Goal #4 – Enhance Participant Engagement - By 2028, we will consistently offer quality, informative, and fun programs so that members value them and make attending a priority.
Goal #5 – Increase our Ability to Adapt - By 2028, we will improve meeting attendance so that our Club is more connected, adaptable, and responsive. What are signals of success? Full tables at meetings, greater than 50% of members attending, and more volunteerism for sign-ups.
