Becky (Hachfeld) Ford was our speaker of the day. Becky's grandfather was a Rotarian. Faribault has been her home her whole life. She was born in the District One Hospital. She loved Dukes of Hazard. She attended Horstman Nursery school, Lincoln Elementary, and Faribault Junior and High School. Her mother was the music teacher in 3-6th grade. When she was in 4th grade, she discovered she had type 1 diabetes. She shared an elaborate family tree of German and Swedish descent. Growing up she spent a lot of time at the lake and on the farm. She soon attended U of M Morris and got her BA in Human Services and minor in music. In college she attended Intervarsity and soon returned to Faribault as her husband accepted a position for youth ministry. She is married and has three children- Amelia and Malachi (twins) and Eloise. Amelia is attending Wheaton College and Malachi is a welder. The twins were born at 26 weeks and spent 3-4 months at Children's Hospital. Becky works at the Community Action Center. She has been there for 2.5 years. She shared CAC's plan to build two buildings for emergency shelter infrastructure and affordable housing. One building will be rented out and the other will be used to offer emergency shelter for those in need. So far $60,000 has been raised within our community. |
