Sue Stout- Ruth's House

Our speaker was Sue Stout from Ruth's House. The home opened in 2004. There's 24/7 access for the women staying there. They focus on secure housing, finding employment and recovery. The house has a home-like environment so moms and kids can feel comfortable and safe. It is always staffed and highly secure. The house is more than just a shelter as there are case managers for each person staying there. The case managers focus on helping women build their credit scores, find employment, finish school if needed and if their children are in foster care they will take steps towards reuniting the family.

In 20 years, Ruth's house has helped 2200 women. 43% of these women have gained income while staying at the house. The goal is to empower women and build a better future for them. Ruth is a biblical name chosen for the home. There are currently 9 rooms for women and children. If you would like to support Ruth's house they need volunteers, funds, supplies, raised awareness and for the community to believe in the survivors.
"Ruth's house saved me and my children. I am grateful for their love and support. It is like a family."  "If it weren't for Ruth's house I would not be alive today!"
