  • Congratulations Marv and Sarah Schrader- 65 years

    • Birthdays!  Recognized multiple Rotarians and spouses that have July birthdays.  Rod Mahler was in attendance and will be 91 on July 15th!
    • Happy Anniversary to Marv and Sara Schrader who are celebrating 65 years of marriage.
    • Guests:  Charlie from the Northfield Rotary, Rod had a guest Amy Jo Berg – Amy is the new pastor at 4th Avenue United Methodist and at Hope Church, Carrie Ann and Shafi were also visiting today.
    • Brandon Gliem hoped everyone had a great 4th of July, he spent his up north with family- provided an update on his son Brayden’s recovery.
    • George Wickstrom talked about using the 4th of July as a time of reflection.  Appreciating things, we have today that our ancestors did not. He also urged everyone to reflect on who people are vs. what they have.  Striving to bring up others self-esteem.
    • Guest Amy Jo thanked Rotary for having her today and expressed gratitude for service to others.  She and her family members helped with food service over the 4th.
    • Mark Kenney’s son is getting married this Friday so he is very excited about that.  He got a new roof recently.  He is also going to be taking a sabbatical for a month where he will be traveling to California for part of it and to the Boundary Waters.  He also congratulated David!
    • Guest Shafi talked about how he is currently job hunting so if any Rotarians know of job openings, please let him know.  He has experience in sales.  He is hard working and motivated!
    • Mahad Mohamed hoped everyone had a Happy 4th of July.  He is thankful to be in this country.   He expressed how much he loves Wednesdays at Rotary!
    • Guest Charlie from Northfield Rotary commended Dick and George for their works on getting law books to those in need in Sudan.  George played a key part in making a law library possible.  Charlie provided a donated photo from Greenbelt Academy in Bor Town, South Sudan.
    • Kymn Anderson thanked David for taking the reins of leadership as President of Rotary.  She is getting Faribault Futures Program going again for the Fall and there are openings still- let her know if you have anyone that would like to participate.  She also said she had a great 4th particularly with her 3 grandkids.  They counted flags while driving from Chaska to Faribault.  For those that didn’t know, there was 132 flags!
    • Theresa Vold invited everyone to the Critters & Cruisers event this Saturday at Harley Davidson 11a-2p.  This will be a meet and greet for pet adoption services, service canines, and a mini pet expo.  A food trucks and root beer floats will be there.
    • Laura Bock talked about the International Festival this Saturday.  There is need for up to 30 or so volunteers to help with flags.  She suggested bringing family to help at this event and then going to the Critters and Cruisers event after!
    • Greg expressed how thankful he was for Kay and all her words during the Virtue reading.  Greg is happy to have her as part of his family.
