- Welcome today’s Guests: Jim Loe from Northfield, Student Guest: Willow, and Guest Speakers: Sara Folsted and Steve Underdahl from Rice County
- Ellie Holmquist: mentioned a fundraiser the kids are doing for their mission trip through River Valley Church. They will be hosting a Murder Mystery Hawaiian themed event on 4/26 at Stone Orchard Event Center.
- Ellie also mentioned the River Rendezvous event happening May 10th at the Rice County Historical Society. There will be many fun activities. On May 10th – Nate Cunningham and Ryan Holmquist will be doing a fur trading French rendezvous at the event.
- Jan Kjergaard: is going on a surprise trip soon and is very excited. She also wanted everyone to know that her daughter has 13 puppies so if anyone is interested, please let her know.
- Dr. Dick Huston: talked about a prairie burn he conducted at his property last week. Had a great crew and preparation, it went well. Did another one in Lonsdale for a friend, did not go as well and almost got away. Farming is all going well so far – discing and dragging almost done, planting soon.
- Marv Schrader: just got back on Saturday. Happy to be at today’s meeting.
- Paul LaRoche: congratulated Murray on the heart of service award and thanked him for all he does.
- Natalie Halverson: shared that her son was recognized as conference player of the week for golf at Bethany! She mentioned she has possible knee surgery coming soon so please keep her in your thoughts. She also talked about her work in public health and how some of the funding cuts for AmeriCorps has affected some of her staff, including losing their positions. Just wanted to spread awareness about the cuts that are affecting public health services.
- Kurt Halverson: welcomed Jim to the meeting and thanked him for the working relationship they have had.
- Brandon: attended a labor trafficking training yesterday. Learned about how sub-contractors are commonly labor trafficked – so sharing awareness about that as well. Encouraged everyone to please report any concerns you may have and that there is law enforcement that investigate these cases.
- Kymn Anderson: welcomed and thanked Sara and Steve for taking the time to be here.
- Laura: sharing some things happening at the Faribault Foundation – they have micro grants for non-profit organizations and programs – currently up to $1000 dollar grants available. Due by May 12th. Please see forms or go on their website. May is also Women’s Tribute month – fundraiser for the women’s endowment. Information is also available on the foundation website.
- Guest Jim Loe: came to express gratitude to Faribault Rotary for their 105th year and added that 100 years ago Faribault Rotary helped the Northfield Rotary become founded.
- George Wickstrom – appreciates Bloom Floral – 63 lilies were recently spread across town.
- David: Expressed Congratulations to Hala Alharthi and Mahad Mohamed for the recent birth of their child! Shared the news with the club and said all are doing well!
