Happy New Year's Eve Rotarians! What better way to celebrate another revolution complete around the sun than indulging in some riveting charitable gambling financials?! - Enthusiasm soared at Boxers in November as e-tab sales roared to $152K, the third highest monthly total in FRYS history after December 23’s $166K and March 24’s $160K à however, the gross profit margin slipped to 13.4% for gross profits of $20K, which was actually a decline from last month’s $23K even though sales were ~$14K lower in November
- Turning to the tangible, paper tab sales were nearly identical month-over-month at $85K, a mere $396 difference from October’s sales
- Like e-tabs, the gross profit margin slid to 18.7% from October’s 20.9%, resulting in a drop in gross profits to ~$16K from ~$18K
- That same enthusiasm for e-tab found its way to Bingo, which posted a 6-month high in revenue at $20K, the first time clearing the threshold since all the way back in March 2025
- While the enthusiasm was there for playing Bingo, such emotion vanquished as the probabilities favored FRYS as the gross profit margin soared to 25.8%, the best performance since February 2025 for gross profits of $5K
- While Bingo had a strong month, the previously mentioned declines in the gross profit margins ultimately pulled earnings down for the month as net income crashed to $7K from the prior month’s robust $25K
- Additionally, the aggregate receipts tax that builds throughout the year stormed to $11K for November compared to October’s $8K

- In other FRYS news, the annual audit is nearly complete - the audit team noted a couple of adjustments to be made here and there but by in large, another clean, successful undertaking, confirming that the FRYS' charitable gambling operation is a well-oiled machine
- Of note, Schlenner, Wenner & Co. is utilizing a new audit software this year so that has added a little time to completing the report and might result in a different format than years' past – time will tell
- Last but not least, the recipients of Strive scholarships are submitting their transcripts for reimbursement with their first semester of university now in the books
- Great to see the charitable gambling proceeds being put to good use as there is no better investment than in one’s own education!
How about a little fun to end the email with predictions for 2026: 1) The AI bubble in the stock market will deflate but not as spectacular as the tech wreck of the Dot Com bust 2) The Federal Reserve will cut interest rates more aggressively than the consensus thinks, which is in between 25bps - 50bps of rate cuts 3) Super Bowl Matchup = San Francisco 49ers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars / College Football Championship = Oregon vs. Georgia / Masters Champion = Robert MacIntyre 4) Prediction "markets", aka Polymarket, Kalshi, Robinhood, etc..., will continue to evolve and be mainstreamed, offering ever more ways for Americans to expand their love of gambling (rumor has it We the People will be able to bet on which of the "Housewives" cries first in each new episode.....unbelievable!!!) 5) Gold = $6,000, oil = $75, 10Y Yield = 4%, unemployment 5% & US GDP = 2.9% Here's to a successful year that was 2025 for the Faribault Rotary Club! Happy New Year, Chad |
