It was a pleasure to welcome District Governor, Geoff Tancred and his wife Bettye to our meeting last Tuesday. Geoff is from the Rotary Club of Orange Clare, and has been the district treasurer for 18 years and the insurance officer for over 20 years. His main recreational interest is fly fishing while Bettye enjoys gardening.
Geoff acknowledged the substantial contribution of Wollundry to the achievements of Rotary both locally and at a district level.

Geoff spoke about "Future Vision" district grants and how seven clubs were successful in 2013-14. He also mentioned the $2 for $1 offered by Bill Gates for the Polio Plus Program. This means our donations work twice as hard and could mean an extra $35 million by 2018 to eradicate polio. Geoff touched briefly on the point that greater emphasis is now being given in Rotary to service rather than attendance, and that some changes to our current structures should be considered if Rotary is to attract new members.

Geoff's wife, Bettye has chosen the Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children(ROMAC), as the partners program to support. We can support this wonderful program by purchasing raffle tickets from our Secretary, Paul Milde.
