Another full meeting with interesting speakers
As you know I was laid low by Covid last week and was quarentinong at home for a wee. Luckily it was only a mild case, just left a bit tired now so early nights still
I am told the Gears and Beers was a great success so congratulations to the members for all their hard work in difficult times. Also thanks for those who worked on the days of the event.
Today was yet again a busy one. David Benn used members choice to spruke a book launch in Wagga coming up soo. Refer to David if interested. We had a visiting rotatian from southern England who was made welcome.
David Pyke used Rotary information to discuss Foundation. THey have done a olt of good in the world such as polio being eliminated in nearly all the world as an example (in association with the Gates foundation). What he also was to let us know of the huge amount of money they have banked and invested rather than spending; the figures were over a billion dollars. He felt prganisations like Care van could do with some help.
Our guest speaker today was Gary Morrison, a retired RAAF engineer. He worked on our jets (Hornets and Mirages) and fascinated us with how to fix problems of stability, oxygen supplies, and several other issues. His work was recognised by the USA airforces for modifications that he made that could not be done in the states. The RAAF were the better for his expertise. Members draw was won by our English visitor so he went off with a nice bottle of wine.
James Ross did the secretaries job as secretary Phil is away for a short while.
Have a good week and try to make the meetings if you can.
A reminder the change dinner is on Tuesday the 28th of June. Again if any one or their spouses have dietary issues I need to know in the next week please.
