At this point we haven't managed to master all the changes and improvements, so please bear with us till all the new features are understood and implemented.
The improvements to the software include Multiple bulletin capabilities which will allow the club to publish seperate bulletins not only for the club, but for the Sunday Markets vendors, the Farmers Markets vendors, the Food and Wine Festival vendors and any other Rotary committee (RYLA, MUNA, etc).

Graham Burmeister introduced his son Max admitting that this would be the most biased introduction in 35 years! Max has attended most of the Sunday Markets that Graham has attended which means that he has worked approximately 50 Sunday Markets. Max is currently an acting detective in the Wagga Wagga Police department and his presentation will be about police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Max came to the podium and noted that he felt that the introduction was very objective …which was followed by chuckles from the audience. Max began his presentation by noting that people would remember Captain Moonlight and his historic takeover of Wantabadgery Station.
He noted at the time the Daily Advertiser totally bagged the Wagga police for being bad shots, having a preference for sunning themselves in front of the courthouse and were reluctant to leave town to find criminals. Max then noted that nothing has changed!
He gave details of the battle and noted that Senior Constable Edward Bowen was killed. He then outlined all of the significant accomplishments of Senior Constable Bowen. Max went on to note that only the “bad” are remembered in our history. "Rarely do people know the details of the good men and women who led honest lives and gave their lives in defence of the law."
The plan is to hold a meeting with the Wantabadgery Community to discuss if they would be honoured to have some form of monument located in the Village in memory of Senior Constable Bowen. He invited anyone to come along to the Wantabadgery Hall at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 1st.
Max answered several questions. Frank Fuller commended Max and related to the members the story of an officer killed.
Max was given a vote of thanks by long time friend John Gray. John told a nice story about how all of the shouts at the MCG had to include an ice cream for Max. John recognised the considerable contributions made by Police Officers.
President Phil opened the meeting and welcomed all the guests, especially our guest speaker, Max Burmeister.
Nelson came to the podium and said that he had 9 days left in Australia and was enjoying his last few days. He will give his farewell speech on the 28th.
Phil announced that there has been a lot of work done on the Club’s Public Liability Insurance by amongst others David Benn, Col Mercer and James Hamilton. This was propagated by our upcoming Australia Day Markets where WWCC requires 20 million dollars worth of public liability insurance. District informed us that that their insurance covers Rotarians but not vendors and it has been recently noted that the Albury Rotary Club recently had a claim against them for public liability. The best available rate for all of our markets seems to be about six and a half thousand dollars.
Discussion followed and proposal was made that market vendor’s be requested to pay five dollars extra to cover the liability insurance. Col Mercer noted that the Sunday Market Committee had discussed this matter and were looking at individual marketeers presenting verification of their insurance and those not having verifications being charged the five dollars extra. President Phil said that the submissions could be referred to the board.
David Byfield came to the podium and reminded members that at their tables was a listing of all of the jobs for the Food and Wine Festival. He asked everyone to sign up and if they were not available on the day, to please notify him. If closer to the Festival, members hadn’t signed up or notified him of unavailability he would be assigning jobs to members.
WIN Television was there to produce a story on Max Burmeister' speech, and they were pressed for time...so early in the meeting Max and the club members did a “dress rehearsal” for the television camera. Max stood at the podium and said a few words, and the members looked enthralled in Max’s words, and proceeded to give an enthusiastic applause...on cue. Everyone performed their roles exceptionally.
Phil recognised the effort of George Thomas and other members who attended a meeting to plan the upcoming Peace Ceremony.
John Ireland won the door prize of a bottle of Red.
At the close of the meeting, Phil announced :
The meeting for the 4th of February will be held at Hammond Hall in the Wagga Show Grounds. There will be a couple of Police patrol cars for you to examine.
The meeting on the 11th of February will be Lyn Quigley to speak about Abbeyfield House. Abbeyfield is involved in building houses for disabled young people who are currently in nursing homes.
Paul Milde, in his role as Secretary, announced member commitments and Rosters.
