Wayne spoke about the Darkness to Light program run by the Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga. This project assists poor people in  India who have problems with their sight. Four "camps" have been held in India over the past few years. Dr Alok Sharma has been the main driving force and he and a number of volunteers from various Rotary Clubs traveled to India beginning in 2005. So far 8,300 people have been assessed. 1,004 cataract operations have been performed, 2,100 pairs of glasses have been dispensed and 5,450 have been provided with eyecare medicine.

District Conference Orange 21st - 23rd March 2014

Please consider attending the above conference - there is always good fellowship and much to learn.

I need to confirm motel bookings soon - while John Smith made a block booking at the Town Square Motel in March last year we need to match names to the booking.

Of the 8 double and 2 twin rooms have already allocated some and now have 6 double and 1 twin left.

If we need more I will need to move quickly. Please let me know your requirements and check the District website for registration over the coming week.

RYLA
John Hawkins reminded members that RYLA is coming up in March April. It commences on 31st March and ends on 5th April. Wollundry needs some nominations of suitable young people between the ages of 18 and 28. RYLA will be held this year at Camp Kurrajong and the cost will be $600. Please contact John for further details if you have someone in mind who might be suitable.

Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) will be on during the week of 17th -21st of March at the Equex Centre.
Wollundry is required to cater for approx 150 students from 8.30 am to 2.30 p.m.
Volunteers are called for to fill  six supervisor positions and 3 barbecue cookers.
So far Frank Fuller and Doug Sutton will be supervisors and Peter Crozier, David Benn and Lawrie Blowes will be on the barbecue (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
This is a very well thought out and good Rotary Program that attempts to reduce the road toll of young drivers by educating them on all aspects of driving a motor vehicle responsibly. It includes lectures on owning and maintaining a car, Insurance, Speed, Penalties, Road Trauma, Practical experience of Braking Distances at varying speeds, Alcohol and Drugs.

During the week about 500 pupils will attend along with a number of teachers.

Sergeants Session
Sergeant Mark Sayer raised a large amount of funds by running a quiz on known facts about Schappelle Corby.

Many members showed their appetite for trivia by correctly answering a number of questions. The ultimate winner of a bottle of Windy Peak Merlot was David Benn. The facts were derived from that notable bible of truth "New Idea". Mark Hillis quipped that the only sure facts from "New Idea" were the date and the price.
