President John started the meeting with a recording that was possibly related to a recent sporting event...however... the volume was a bit low and members, many of whom are hard of hearing, either intentionally or unintentionally failed to recognize the music. John grudgingly proceeded into Rotary Grace.
He then welcomed all Rotarians and guests and congratulated everyone on an outstanding weekend. He asked for a round of applause for the whole club.
Pres John then called upon Graham Barrow to come to the podium. Graham Barrow announced that he is leaving Wagga due to work situation and will have to resign from Wollundry Rotary. He hoped to be able to catch up when work permits.
John noted that Graham had established himself as a fine Rotarian and was welcome back anytime.
John then announced that Graham Burmeister’s mother Flo had recently passed away and unfortunately, Graham and John Gray are in Cambodia. John passed on the club’s condolences to Graham and his family.
John then called upon David Benn to speak on Dream Cricket. David gave a bit of the background on the project and announced there will be 75 kids participating at Tolland School this Friday.
John then announced: NEXT WEEK THERE WILL BE NO MEETING!! The reason for this is because there will be no electricity in the precinct around the Commercial Club, He said the board looked at other options however it was decided that since we have been so busy over the last few weeks that members deserved a week off.
President John and Secretary Paul were the Judges for the Hat Day Competition. The results are as follows:
Winners (see photos below)
Wal Paton
Rick Priest
David Byfield
James Hamilton
Rob Nicholson
The raffle winner was David Hodge.

Phil McIntosh and Tim Barter gave a extensive report on the very successful Wollundry Cycling Challenge. . At the beginning of Phil’s talk, he made a point of acknowledging Tim’s organizational skills and desire to “give it a go” . He said it never would have happened without Tim,and he is “second to none.” He also recognized Chris Metcalf as Tim’s 2IC and Nathan (Phls’s son) as his 2IC.
Phil then went on to give a special thanks to the following Committee members:
Tim Macgillycuddy, Pete Mackinnon, Laurie Blowes, Jim Gibson ,Kev Moffat, Neil Pinto, John Ferguson and Andy Irvine.
He also gave special recognition to Colin Duff for his electrical work, Steve McCoy for his technical skills, Dave Foster for signage and Darren Wallace for entertainment.
Phil recognised the Sponsors: John Daly and WestPac Bank, Bush Campbell, Commin-Hendricks, Orthodontics Wagga, Matt Jenkins Homes and Hillis Skoda. Phil took a call from Telstra who want to be a sponsor next year. He was very pleased with the Media coverage … with 3 front pages. He was grateful to the support of the Wagga Wagga City Council. He acknowledged the Army Recruit Training Centre at Kapooka with 12 cadets. He especially thanked Bill Harvey of the City Council for saving Wollundry $1,000 in traffic management. He recognised the strong social media effort of his son, Nathan.
Phil was hopeful to get 150 entrants and there were well over 400. There were some mistakes, but next year will be better yet. Phil could not give a financial report as Jim Gibson is home working on it. He was hopeful that the Club would clear $10,000. He concluded by thanking all of the members for their participation.
Tim Barter came to the podium and said there were a number of doubters who said that this could not be done in the allotted time. Tim said “I am in the best Rotary Club in Wagga and we did it!” He also thanked all of the members and said “well done”.

SERGEANT'S SESSION
Mark Hillis came to the podium for Sargeant duties. He called upon Franzi to carry the box to collect money to get better acquainted with the members. Mark started his sergeant duties by emphasing the seriousness of the job. He noted that Michael Georgiou has proved the Sargeant Session is no laughing matter.
He fined the late members, Neil Pinto and Bruce Spinks. He fined himself for not working over the Cycle weekend. He fined Peter Clucas for fencing offenses. Frank Fuller for coming early for the challenge. Outstanding fines: Ken Taylor for drones above Hillis Ford, Paul Milde for his choice of speakers, Paul Murray for allowing the technology to proceed.
He fined the Markets Committees and then read a list of eight points to recognize when the markets need an upgrade.
He then fined all members who had not officially introduced themselves to Franzi. He accompanied Franzi around to be introduced to members.
PDG John Egan came to the podium and provided information about Hat Day and how the money goes to the Research for Mental Health. He also thanked all the participants.
Geoff Breust noted that the Golf Tournament still had places available. Cost $25 payable to Wollundry Rotary to nominate and $14 per round which includes a drink voucher.
David Pyke was called upon to give Rotary Information. David noted that Rotary International had assets of over one billion dollars and seven hundred million are in shares and managed funds. He referenced the annual district fees that Wollundry Rotarians pay and did not support District raffle tickets. He then went on to entertain members with a joke.
Andrew Irvine noted that several cases of cider were available and asked members if they should be available at the Christmas Party. It was agreed that they should be used for the Christmas Party.
