No dramas
We had two visitors - President Elect John Ferguson and Past President Neil Pinto who had an American couple from New York who were in Australia for a Rotary Exchange trip. Neil took them fishing and rumor has it that they caught a 300 pound cod.
The following story from Paul Murray is a good example of the worldwide community of Rotary.
I have just returned from an overseas trip and while in France I was very pleased to be greeted by several Rotarian tourists who happened to notice my Rotary vest. The Rotary wheel is quite the conversation starter. In one bus trip I was greeted by a Wisconsin Rotarian and a Brazilian Rotarian.
The photo above includes Brazilian Rotarian Osnei Rahmeier (white shirt), his brother, their partners and Carolyn and myself. Osnei is President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Rio do Sul, SC Brazil. He spoke very good English and it was a delight talking with him and sharing Rotary club info. I promised to include this picture in our bulletin...and send it to him...So Osnei...here it is. All the best.
Wayne Jenkins presented Rotary Information and discussed new members mentoring. Mentors have traditionally been elderly figures taking a protegee under their wings in an informal arrangement. More recently formal mentoring programs have spread rapidly using mentors to help new Rotarians. Wayne proceeded to outline some of the do and don't of mentoring.
Michael's Jokes
Just prior to the heads and tails, Michael Georgiou read off a couple jokes. Both were well received.
Heads and Tails There was no Sergeant so Secretary Paul conducted a Heads and Tails.
Photos of the Heads and Tails are on your right.
Doug Sutton was the winner of the Heads and Tails competition
Rotary Friendship Exchange
Michael Knight has been hosting Vivian and Scott MacDonald, Rotary Friendship Exchange members from New York state. He presented President Phil with a banner from their club in District 7120. Neil Pinto has also been hosting Friendship Exchange members from New York state.
