ROTARY INFORMATION with Rick PriestPP Rick spoke today about RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service). RAWCS acts as a conduit for raising funds that are tax deductible, and getting these funds and materials to the different areas that need them. They also coordinate teams to go to these places, at the team member's own expense.
Rick spoke of the experience of some of the other clubs in finding that although they were ready to help, the materials had vanished, or the area had to be cleaned up before they could start.
He suggested that the Clubs might apply for funds to bring some young men or women back to Australia for what amounts to basic training in the use of tools etc. as this is certainly an area of need.
