PRESIDENT’S REPORT
 
It was very pleasing to have District Governor Michael Milston and partner Ann Dibb along with ADG Bryan Short and Sally join us for our meeting this week.
 
Prior to our club meeting, Geoff Hamilton, Gerry Gerlach, Jim Gibson (for Pykie) and I met with Michael and Bryan for about 45 minutes. The following points were noteworthy from our discussions:
 
  • Wollundry’s Strategic Plan was good;
     
  • Wollundry was still the largest club in the district and generally the highest contributor of funds to charitable causes;
     
  • membership numbers at district level (and higher) was considered an issue, but at local club level was more about being able to operate effectively – did not really matter whether we were in one district or another;
     
  • Wollundry is not the only all male club – and there are no specific policies relating to such;
     
  • Wollundry is heavily involved in a wide range of Rotary activities – Youth Exchange (one in, two out) RYPEN (bringing former participants to run the next event), RYLA, RYDA and helping the establishment of Rotaract Club CSU, significant community support via large donations and support to local initiatives through F and W and G and B festivals, Defib for Life program, Cambodian and Congo projects overseas;
     
  • recommended we continue to upload our good stories to RI.
 
In general, Wollundry enjoys continued success in all facets of Rotary activity.
 
Ann Dibb’s presentation at our meeting concerning the ongoing program to rid the world of polio confirmed we are almost there! There are now literally only tens and hundreds of cases in the difficult areas of the world – Pakistan and Afghanistan. I’m sure Wollundry will continue to direct funds to this great cause.
