Today I acted as president for the meeting while Phil is away. I was a bit rusty but with help managed to get through the meeting without too many mishaps. It is amazing how you forget the format so many thanks Phil for the worksheet.
We had one guest today, Mac Armitage, invited by Frank Fuller, and who is known to many of our members. Our guest speaker could not attend today so will be rescheduled for a later date.

- John Gray notified us that Grahan Burmeister is very ill and is now receiving palliative treatment in the cardiac ward in WWBH; very sad news as he is both a great guy and a stalwart in our club. I saw him last week and he was quite frail then.
- Phil McIntosh updated us on gears and beers. registrations are slowly coming, currently about half of our usual numbers. It was deemed the new river precinct was not suitable so it will be in the Victory Memorial Gardens as in previous years.
- John Smith exhorted our members to plan to attend the planning for the upcoming district conference.
- Stuart Herriott gave a vey funny story about digging out a well; manual labour assisted by the use of explosive charges to keep getting depper in the hard ground. Thankfully no one died! And the well was a success.
- Doug Conkey bave a brief of the history of women in rotary. They are currently 20% of rotarians world wide and that figure is growing.
- The market last week managed to avoid most of the rain, then James Ross jinxed the last half hour about how the day had gone well with the weather; it rained ! The market raised about $1,400 give or take
- Next weeks meeting will be a club assembley so no visitors nor guests please.
President Phil will be back next week to manage the meeting. It was interesting how you forget the order of events at a meeting but I muddled through.
It was also the first meeting where we toasted the new king of Australia, Charles the third.
All the best and see you next week. Richard.
