President Geoff opened the meeting with our traditional Rotary grace and toast and then welcomed our guests Kate Robertson, David Wishart, Tayla Crevatin (our outbound exchange student) and Kat, our delightful exchange student from Sweden

President Geoff spoke briefly about the highly successful Beer and Gears Festival and thanked all club members and their partners who participated in the organisation of the event.
He then requested that we all don our special head gear in support of Rotary Health Hat Day.
As can be seen in the photo, Geoff was a "song & dance man" at Sydney's Scotts College, backed up by a Jason Day lookalike from the Wagga Country Club and a notable ex- commissioner of the NSW Police, who is now in the service of Her Majesty's.

Beers and Gears Festival

Chairman of the Gears and Beers Festival, Phil McIntosh gave a passionate and highly motivating summary of the success of this festival.
750 riders participated in the day's events from 7am to lunchtime. Approximately 4,000 people enjoyed the beer, cyder, food and music at the Victory Memorial Gardens from lunchtime to the close at 6pm. It was an outstanding success with accolades flowing from participants from right around Australia about Wollundry's ability to have marshals in the "middle of nowhere" to international acclaim on the RAPHA website where there were 120,000 posts on Instant gram. Phil explained that RAPHA's had a massive involvement in the cycle challenge and that RAPHA had contributed significantly to the response from local cycling groups.
Phil thanked all Wollundry members and their partners for their contributions. He made special mention of his son, Nathan for the website work, Tim Barter, Tim Macgillycuddy, David Foster, Coolaman and South Wagga Rotary Clubs and South Wagga Apex Club. A final profit figure for the festival will be given to members shortly when all accounts are settled. Any feedback please contact Phil through his email.

NEIL PINTO
Neil gave us an update on his current health.
As reported in a previous bulletin Neil arrived at a meeting with his right leg heavily bandaged. This was a result of falling when boarding a boat and he tore the right quad from his knee. This is a very slow recovery process and will keep Neil off his bike for some time. This is of some relief to our well respected past secretary Paul, who often has his wheelie bins "terrorized" by a "phantom pedaler"
Of greater concern, Neil reported that he had an operation in Sydney to remove a malignant growth from his left kidney. Neil reported to the relief of all members that he has been given a positive report by his surgeon and that he is expected to make a full recovery.

TWOMEYS TWILIGHT GOLF at the WAGGA WAGGA COUNTRY CLUB
Golf Captain and Jason Day "lookalike", David Byfield is taking nominations for this annual competition.
Wollundry, Division 2 premiers last year, is looking forward to defend its title as the leading Rotary Golf Club by going one further this year and take out Division 1 of this prestigious competition.
All members are invited to play and contact David.

INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP of CRICKETING ROTARIANS
As most of cricketing tragics and flannelled fools get over the embarrassment and ignominy of losing The Ashes, Wollundry is preparing to restore Australian Cricket to its rightful place in international competition again.
Next year, Wollundry is hosting the IFCR event in Wagga Wagga during October. This will bring together some of the greats of International Rotary clubs and some might even be able to play cricket!
Chairman of the Wollundry IFCR committee, David Benn is pictured with well known American cricket fan!!!!! Paul Murray at the launch of the IFCR Australia website.
