President Darren opened the meeting with New Year wishes and a welcome back to all. A toast to the People Of Australia followed a welcome to our visiting guest John Horton. He announced that Geoff Breust would be our Guest Speaker.
VALE MALCOLM GLENNIE-HOMES
Michael Knight paid a fitting tribute to one of our former members Dr. Malcolm Glennie Homes. Although suffering from Cerebral Palsy, Malcolm lived a full life and was an academic with the Ag Research Institute in Wagga for 28 years from 1971 to 1999. He was 83. Despite a pronounced limp and needing a stick, he regularly walked around Lake Albert near his home.
The son of a highly respected Wagga Medico and a strong mother who lived to the age of 103, Malcolm belonged to a number of voluntary organisations including the Rotary Club of Wollundry for about 8 to 10 years. He hosted Rotary Exchange Student Lauire Steiner. R.I.P.
SATURDAYMARKETS
Market Chair James Hamilton reported the Market Committee's recommendation to move back to the Civic Precinct. Due to the age and lack agility of members, it was decided that our club would set up and pull down market tents, but we would not provide the old trestles and legs. Fold up tables will be available in the container for those who need them. There will be a promotion for the relaunch and the market will be reviewed after six months. As before, the Market will be held on the second Saturday of each month, the first to be be held on 10th February. Trading will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Set up will commence at 7 a.m.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
The Membership Committee will be made up of the following members: Stephen Anderson, Gerry Gerlach, Phil Burgess, David Benn, David Pyke, Peter MacKinnon, John Flynn, Kevin Watts, Bill Parker and Doug Sutton(Director/Chair). A big thank you to those who responded to the request for volunteers and they are listed in order of receipt of emails. Members will be notified by email of our first meeting shortly.
