Our Meeting

Today was a Club Fellowship Day.
In the dark - the power went off just before the 12:30pm gong.

The club was informed by Col Mercer of his resignation from the club. He says that over the 23 years of membership with the club that he has always enjoyed the mate-ship and regards Wollundry as one of the premium clubs in Wagga Wagga.
With 2 daughters in Brisbane, his wife would like to be able to spend more time traveling to see them. His son has recently returned from a long stint in Darwin, and will be choosing to live in Melbourne, or stay put.
He says that it has been both a pleasure and and honour to be a member and will miss us.
President Geoff presented Col with a Certificate of Appreciation.
Paul Murray gave us an update on the club website.
When you go to the Club History Tab, you can then choose Past Presidents, Photos, Bulletins/Changeover report etc.
He showed us some of the beaut photos of some members some 30 years ago. They are worth a look.
Phillip Tome dropped in to announce the 6th Royce Abbey Oration and Luncheon Guest as Steven Mark.
The topic is Racism in the 21st Century - the New Tribalism.

Late comers - Pat Ingram and Neil Pinto was struggling in to the rom, only to discover that he wasn't late at all.
A Manna from Heaven in that President Geoff had not paid for his lunch today.
John Gray made a comment about that, and you had to be there to appreciate it.
Peter had suffered a Mia Culpa for thinking that he was supposed to be on the markets, but turned out that upon reading the bulletin that he was sgt.
He went on to fine members on detail from last weeks bulletin.
He then fined all those who had not paid fees yet, including himself - another $5
David Benn cross fined Phil McIntosh who's daughter has been named in the training squad for Rugby 7's
Benny then fined himself for wondering if David Wishard was still waiting at the bus stop, where they were supposed to meet for lunch today.
Geoff Bruest fined John Smith for getting 04:30 confused, resulting in coming home 12 hours late from Dubai last week.
It was announced that next weeks speaker is Stephen McCreedy from Smith Family.

Neil Pinto announced that a working bee for Gail Smith is to be held this weekend
at 6 Mallee Road, on Saturday from 8:30 and Sunday from 9:00am
There is vines to remove and wire to be wound up.
Please bring Personal Safety equipment and tools.
Graeme Burmeister informed the club of the unveiling of the memorial for the murdered policeman, Bowen, killed by the Midnight Gang,
is going to be held at Walbundrie this Sunday at 11am.
Burmo's Son Max and another officer, Radford spoke about Bowen at a meeting during John Ferguson's year.

Member update was provided by Michael Georgiou.
Michael arrived in Australia in 1950 as a 9 year old, without a word of English. He was constantly impressed by everybody saying "Hello Mike" for a long time,
until he realised they were actually saying "hello Mate".
He went to Temora to begin with for 6 months, and then to Wagga Wagga. He attended Gurwood Public and then Wagga High, whilst working for his parents in their cafe.
He then worked at the Bidgee Bar for 10/- a week, and then the Ritz Cafe. Married Dawn, established and ran Michael's Deli for 35 years.
Michael started his community Work early on with Wagga Apex, and where he was affectionately known as the Wild Colonial Greek Cypriot.
As well as that, he was involved with the Tatton School, on the Board of St. Michael's, Councilor for 15 years, Deputy Mayor, involved with the Wagga Ethnics Group, Men's Prostrate,
a JP, the local Greek Interpreter, Power of Attorney for the Cypress Foreign Office and a radio announcer on AAA FM - Greek music and news.

Geoff Bruest announced that Alan Eldridge on 0427705771 has got seats available on his table for AAHOF dinner and presentations on Saturday 19th September.
Member draw was won by number 53, Wal Paton.
33 Members and 3 guests ate choices of bangers and mash, or Fish and Chips. There was 4 bun runners.
The other guest at the meeting was Richard Sleeman from Wagga Wagga Club.
