President Darren opened the meeting with a reflection of thanksgiving and the proposed a toast tot he People Of Australia. He welcomed our Guest Speaker Garth Perkins and invited members to enjoy some Fellowship.
David Benn, ever helpful to others, informed members that one of his neighbours, Bernie Benson, is selling's house and doing so privately. If anyone is interested in this house sale, which is located in Thorne St. you can contact David for more details.
JUNEE ROTARY CLUB 26TH AUGUST
John Egan brought to our attention that the guest speaker at the above meeting will be Ken Hunt who climbed Mt Everest and descended in a hang glider. Should be very interesting.
President Darren then gave us list of future events:
- Borambola Vocational Visit. 10th October wine tasting an nibbles followed by a meal for $30 per head.
- Erin Earth Vocational Visit and barbecue in November.
- Evening Club meeting at the Country Club on 5th September. Please bring your partner. $55 per head (?)
- Rotaract Trivia 23rd September.
- Relay For Life November.
GOLF TRIP TO HOWLONG
Minister for recreation Neil Schirmer announced that there will be ten golfers for Thursday at 12 noon. A further round will be played Friday morning. Dinner at Tulieres Rutherglen will be had on Thursday evening. Reports next week.

Doug Sutton reported on his recent trip to Brisbane, caravan in tow. Kay and Doug visited family and friends along the way at Shell Harbour, Camden, Newcastle, Old Barr and Woolgoolga. Just north of Grafton, while on a pit stop the Amarok ute refused to start. A failed starter motor was diagnosed by an NRMA serviceman who arranged for a tow to the nearest repair facility. This happened to be Mt Gravatt Volkswagen, a suburb of Brisbane. The pictures above tell a thousand words. The ute was repaired under warranty and the NRMA roadside assist platinum covered the cost of towing. Apart from a little inconvenience the breakdown cost nothing and in fact we saved the fuel we would have used had we driven ourselves to Brisbane. Other members reported similar experiences.
