SATURDAY MARKET REPORT 11TH FEBRUARY 2023
Beautiful summer day which warmed up rapidly by pack up time.
In attendance were:
Peter Crozier OIC, Peter Clucas, Michael Knight, John Ireland, James Ross, John Flynn, Darren Sweeney, James Hamilton, Richard Baguley, Chris Kelly, Jonty Shuter, David Hodge, Neil Schirmer with one not attending. Great group of fellows who carried out their tasks admirably and without complaint.
With a lot of events occurring in competition, stall holders and crowd numbers were down resulting in a lower final total. A number of stallholders reported lower sales than usual but were quite understanding re. hot day and other events. One stallholder was happy to be at the market saying that the stallholder fee at another event was $700. Fortunately, the bbq ingredients had been reduced by 25% resulting in little throw out and the fellows enjoyed the 15 snags left over. The heat of the day cost the OIC a bit of funding with a slab and a half of beer consumed.

There was much discussion about the future direction of the market with the load on the aging members and the time taken to put up and take down tents, table tops and trestles to be taken into consideration. With around $26000 being the approximate income , it was mentioned that perhaps the club should redirect their efforts to other or fewer income sources. Some felt that we should give up the market altogether and let other sources operate the market bearing in mind that the market does provide an event for the community. One suggested that we should become a probus club with fun and conversation being emphasised. Topic for discussion at the facilitator meeting?

SERGEANT'S SESSION
Peter Green entertained us with his subtle wit and extracted a good amount of money for all the lovers on St Valentine's Day. St Valentine, according to Peter, is not only the patron saint of lovers, but of Beekeepers, fine sergeants etc.
All those who have not completed their working with children checks - pay up!
John Gray was fined for misleading the Sergeant who was told there was not much involved with being a sergeant. Peter read a list of duties including ensuring an orderly dignified Rotary meeting, setting up the furniture, making sure the computer and overhead functions were operating, organising fines etc etc. So called media tarts were also fined: Tim McMullen who was mentioned in the Past history of Wagga in Saturday's DA for being in the Wagga Swimming Club. Someone associated with the birth of ten piglets???? Neil Pinto for the Indian Cricket Team. James Hamilton
