David Foster detailed Wollundry Rotary's youth programs. These include
CSU Scholarships - three $2000 scholarships.

Bob Willis reported the awarding. Of CSU Scholarships.

We received twenty applications for our annual CSU scholarship and Book Prizes. From these applicants we interviewed six students and then chose the following students as recipients for this year.

CSU Annual Scholarship Winner: Adelaide Kovac, who is studying  Equine Science.

The two Book Prize recipients were:   Molly Spackman, studying Animal Science, and Abdul Haiden,  studying Medical Radiation Science.

My thanks to Peter Green and John Ireland  for their valued input and sitting on the interview panel.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony on May 19th at CSU.

Peter Clucas announced the new date for the Social Night, 7pm at Beer Deluxe on 18/5/2016.

Sergeant John Flynn highlighted a north wagga conspiracy??? And then fined everybody.

Secretary Laurie Blowes announced that next week is a vocational visit to the Mens Shed.

Member Profile - David Wishart

David recounted a remarkable career across rural and community interests. Born in wagga, David worked initially in the sheep industry in western NSW. A move to Canberra followed with stints as

Milk truck driver, poker machine mechanic, and then Mobil fuel distributor in wagga in charge of

5 depots, 23 service stations and 40 staff.

This was followed by time at Australian Wool Testing Authority, Streets icecreamdelivery driving

And Taxi cabs  Wagga. All this plus running his farm at coursing park!

 

Guest Speaker Alan Eldridge General Manager Wagga City Council.

As the newly appointed manager of wwcc Alan described the challenges of running

the organisation and focussed on several key areas:

Wagga Airport

     recent dramas have been sorted and paint operation going ok. Plans for taxiway upgrades

     and a bigger terminal.

Bomen

     23 residential lots have been approved.

     Bomen selling centre IT to be upgraded.

RIFL Hub

     the aim is to create a $100m inland port with logistics, and freight interchange. The

      project needs funding and input from all levels of government.

Levee Bank

     will cost $23m to complete.

     doing spillway first at equex and flowerdale.

Riverside

      prevented at low cost and is now a great community facility.
