Food and Wine Festival

David Pyke spoke to the Club to inform them that, following an emergency meeting last Tuesday, he had agreed to take on the Chairmanship of the Festival and will be relying on members to produce the Festival again this year. A new position of Operations Manager was filled by Peter MacKinnon. Both positions will have assistants and they will come form the Committee and will be announced in the next couple of weeks. David was very pleased with the rollup of twenty three members to the meeting which he said showed the enthusiasm of the Club to make the Festival a success again this year.
David made special mention of Laurie Blowes who deserves a very big thank you from the Club for the outstanding work
he has done for the festival in t

Laurie has provided David with all the information he has to help get this year's festival off the ground.David Byfield will again be organising the rosters for the Festival and these will be available next week. With only nine weeks to go it is a case of all hands on deck and Members Partners would be most welcome if they could assist with the running of the festival. David will be preparing spread sheets for various tasks and will call upon those who have volunteered, both from within the committee and the Club generally.

Rick Priest, Chair of the Peace Ceremony Committee, informed members that the Peace Ceremony this year has been moved to 7 p.m. on Sunday 24th February at the Victory Memorial Gardens. Our Club is responsible for this year's set up and Rick will be looking for volunteers to assist. There will be a meeting at the Commercial Club next Tuesday at 5 p.m. to discuss arrangements. Members are asked to come up with nominations for a peace award from our club. Testimonials should be limited to no more than two pages, preferably one.
Sergeant

Today's sergeant John Flynn chose Gerry Gerlach to carry the fine box. There were groans from the members when Flynny revealed that he had found his Jewish joke book that Annette had carefully hidden. Thankfully he did not produce it but told a joke that again brought forth groans: A Bear walks into a bar and orders a whisky and ------------ coke. Bartender "why the pause? Bear "I was born with them"
Fines were imposed on Gerry Gerlach, Neil Pinto and David Foster.
