President David opened the meeting with Rotary Grace followed by a toast to The King, The People of Australia, and Australian Farmers.
He then invited David Golland to present the Projects approved by the Board, to be ratified by the Club.
The following Projects were put to members for a vote and were all passed without objection:
- Nairobi Literacy $1,000
- Rotarians against Malaria $5,000
- Summer School of Strings $1,000
- Polio Plus RAWCS $5,000 (Augmented to $15,000 by Rotary Foundation)
- Defib for Pinaroo Village to be purchased by Village management and reimbursed by Cub up to $2,000 (Passed at a previous meeting)
GUEST SPEAKER KEN DILLON (continued)
Ken's address last week was greatly appreciated by members and he was given a chance to answer questions and conclude as he had run out of time last week.
In his entertaining was Ken told us that he has two main commitments in retirement apart from Rotary.
The first is being a Board Member of an applied Psychology and Learning organisation which is devoted to help people to become mentally work ready. Physical ability is one thing but Psychological readiness for some jobs is also very important i.e. First Responders, Ambulance, Service Personnel.
The second is sorting out a huge collection of Stamps for the Uniting Church. The stamps are collected from old envelopes, processed and sent on to be sold to help the Methodist Mission in Sydney. Ken inherited the job and has literally sacks full of stamps to sort.
Well done Ken. You are a busy man.
SICK LIST
James Ross is recovering after dropping a safe on his foot! Not sure what he was doing carrying a safe but we hope you are soon mobile James. We need you.
Peter Wilesmiuth is in Murwillumbah Hospital after another nasty fall off his bike. Ed. understands it is ribs this time and not neck. Painful but potentially less serious. Get well soon.
Bob Willis is recovering from his recent illness and was at today's meeting. He thanked all those who supported him during his illness especially those who gave him lifts to and from. He informed the meeting that he will be moving to Sydney to be near his children. Best wishes for the future Bob and thanks for your service!
John Ashcroft was also at today's meeting. John is slowly recovering from a burst appendix a serious event at any age but more so for those in senior years. We hope you'll be back to full health soon John.
SATURDAY MARKET REPORT

Our market team consisted of OIC Craig Bromley, Col Duff, Richard Bagley, Benny, Michael Knight, Doug Conkey, Fergs, Kev Watts, Pat Ingram, James Hamilton, Tim Hutchins and Croz.
Bit of a chilly start but warmed up quickly. Our stall holders were late with their set ups, which had us concerned but by 8.30 they were all ready for the rush.
We tried a new menu item on the bbq, called a Jumbo, which had egg bacon sausage and onion at $8. Our expert bbq team of Michael, Croz and Pat said it sold well, but the price should be a bit higher, say $8.50. The next OIC might have a think about that.
We lost about a quarter of our site to ‘ground under repair’ however Steve did a bit of magic and found room for our 27 stall holders. All of them seemed pleased, or as pleased as stall holder can be. Unfortunately we were missing a coffee van, but we have a new permanent van as of next month.
Our setup and day went smoothly, with James getting the fidgets after sitting down for 10 minutes. He couldn’t help himself and got stuck into a spring clean in the container.
Benny also left late in the morning for a pressing engagement, to be replaced by his twin James Ross. We found out later that Benny’s ‘pressing engagement’ was a game of golf.
Total stall holder income was $1320. The bbq sales were $758. Expenses were up a bit on normal but should be down a bit next market. The gate was $607
Total banked was $2,385.

HENTY FIELD DAYS AND STARRTS
Darren Wallace, Neil Pinto and Phil McIntosh will accompany Aly Reid and a number of refugees to the Henty Field days on Wednesday 18th. This initiative is to assist the refugees who are very interested in Australian Farming methods. Many of them come from farms in in Iraq and Afghanistan. We look forward to hearing how the day went.
LILLIER LODGE DINNER
Pat Ingram informed members that he, John Horton, Michael Knight and Doug Conkey cooked dinner for the occupants of Lillier Lodge last Wednesday night. Our Club Members undertake this task twice a year. Pat said how appreciative the cancer sufferers and their partners were. They fed 24 people. John Gray, who transports patients for treatment, endorsed Pat's comments saying how a number had said that the meal was the highlight of their week. Well done all.
GEARS AND BEERS

Phil McIntosh, our member who is responsible for introducing Gears and Beers to Wagga with the help of our Club, gave us a run down on what is expected of us.
Firstly he would like to have a meeting every Wednesday evening at 5.30 p.m.at the Lawson until the event. Everyone is welcome but committee members are requested to attend.
Phil said that because there are a number of new members in the Club he would go back over basics to assist everyone on what needs to happen to make the event a success.
- Gears and Beers is a two part function: A series of Bike rides and a Craft Beer Festival
- On Saturday 5th Oct there is a ride around the Wiradjuri Trail, about 45 kilometres starting at the Riverside Precinct Auditorium. Afterwards there will be entertainment and bag collection in the Victory Memorial Gardens.
- On Sunday there are five rides: Roadie 105k; Dirty 130k; Saltie 70k; A 30k; Family 10k. Set up and Preparation for first ride starts about 5.30 a.m. Remember daylight saving starts on Sunday of the main events!
- Imagery sells the event. Sunday morning banners and street bunting are put up along Baylis St in front of the Civic buildings along to the bridge over Wollundry lagoon.
- Commentator and street broadcast commences.
- Ride Marshals and escorts must wear hi-viz vests and they will be available on the day.
- Marshals can ONLY give instructions to BIKE RIDERS. Normal vehicle traffic will be available to the public.
- Rosters are available and members are requested to be generous with their time and nominate for more than one duty.
- Manuals will be available next week.
- Musette Bags will be filled on 30th September. Volunteers will be required to assist. It is a big job taking up the best part of a day. Further information will follow.
LUCKY DRAW PRIZE
The draw prize was initially one by David Milne, but he elected to call for a further draw as he doesn't drink wine!
