Rotary bulletin 15 August 2023
Darren was back in the chair and opened the meeting with grace and a salute to King Charles. No guests or visiting Rotarians for the day.
Darren gave us an update on events
- Board meeting next Monday
- The futures committee will meet tomorrow at 5.30. Only two members have confirmed attendance
- Occasional visit to ‘Borambola Wines on Tuesday October 10. Planned to be an American style BBQ (whatever that means) and wine tasting
- Dinner meeting (but not a meeting) at the Wagga Country Club on Wednesday, September 6 at 6.30 for 7 . Presumably there will no meeting on Tuesday September 5. Will need definite bookings. Wait for Invitation!
- The Saturday market committee met and came up with some suggested variations for the Saturday markets. Board will consider and then report to Club
- Rotaract Trivia night on 23 September
- Daz gave us an interpretation of the phone rules. You can have yours on as long as it does not make a “noise

With a cold start to the day we took a little bit to get going, With all of the members working to their ability the markets were set up on time, a few market stall swaps were required for power and placement, and a couple on marketeers arrived but were not on the list a call to Steve Anderson had these sorted out.
It needs to be noted that as the years roll on members are getting older and the work required to setup and pack down the markets may not be in safely with in the abilities of some of the members

Of Interest:
To continue the theme of Coins of the world from last market report, if any member is planning a golfing trip to Chile I have a 100 Pesos coin for a place marker that was deposited in the Gates donations.
The manual needs to be updated, there were no instructions on the bank or details, I have got a new deposit book and written on the front the bank details for the community account to deposit the markets into.

A reminder to all OIC and BBQ supervisors that the eskys must be empty of any food and put in fridge in shed.
HOWLONG GOLF TRIP

Neil reported that 13 members and friends attended the trip to Howlong. 11 Members played in the comp on Thursday. Mark Hillis was absent from the meeting as a fine was ensuing. When the boys played a three par and Mark picked up the disc on the green marked “NTP” thinking ii was some joke played by Neil Pinto, only to realise some time later that NTP means “nearest the pin” and was part of the Howlong Golf Club competition. Oops! David Benn played a blinder and paid a fine appropriate
A fine meal in Rutherglen and a further 9 holes on Friday before returning home to Wagga. A good time had by all. A big thanks to Neil Schirmer for organizing.
LEGACY WEEK
Doug Conkey was representing Legacy and the annual weekly fund raising is on commencing Saturday August 26. Legacy will have stalls in shopping centres and would like assistance from Rotarians. Please contact Doug Conkey if you can help. 0400 909 992

THE GRAFTON CURSE
Doug Sutton let us know that John Flynn's, up to now faithful Jeep, had a break down in Nth NSW last week and had to be flat topped into Grafton. Deferred his trip by a few weeks with a bearing problem. Flynney said all praise to NRMA
GEARS AND BEERS
Phil and three others went to Coolamon on Monday and the Coolamon Rotary are all organised for the event. They have also arranged for one ride to traverse through a farm where there will be multiple fat lambs grazing. The vegetarians will diverted
Phil also reminded us the importance of Coolamon is the whole event and this year they have a large area to cover. Well done to Coolamon.
