John Mason introduced our guest speakers as he is Secretary of FreeRoam Theatre. Tash (Natasha) Shimpf and Jhi Rayner spoke about FreeRoam Theatre, which is a local, professional theatre company in Wagga. The objective of the theatre is to provide the services that help to create, learn and perform. The theatre was formed in 2020 when it was noticed that professional theatres were closing. So, there was a gap. Since then, they have put on12 plays and their 13th will be Frankenstein. Tash will be directing Frankenstein and it will play in November. They will also be doing workshops that will reach out to the schools and 120 students will be participating with assistance by 8 VET students. They indicated that Workshops bring in the money and shows spend the money. They are hoping to get 280 audience members. There will be a performance on November 22nd. They are asking Rotary to provide funding for the Playhouse venue and back house support staff which will be $8,742.00. This will allow their tickets to remain reasonably priced. They are offering Rotary advertisement in their brochure and 40% reduction on tickets for a Saturday night performance. They have sponsorship through Riverina Water and have applied for funding from WWCC. They use social media and have over 840 followers. John Horton suggested that they think about joining Wollundry! President David presented them with a small gift and remarked on their enthusiasm. |
