ROTARY INFORMATION 15TH October
Rotary’s wheel emblem has been the symbol of Rotary since the earliest days. In 1923, the Rotary International Association adopted a mechanically correct gear wheel with 24 cogs and six spokes as the emblem. The keyway was added to symbolise a working cog. The Rotary wheel was approved as the official Rotary emblem in January 1924
The Rotary emblem in official colours of royal blue and gold is one of the most recognisable symbols in the world. To Rotarians past and present, the Rotary wheel emblem evokes the image of a well-oiled, efficient machine, working for the service of mankind.
