Our Meeting
R.I. Conference Sydney

Lawrie Blowes advised that he has returned from a Volunteers' workshop in preparation for next month's International Convention. He said that there are 17,000 booked for the convention and the figure may go as high as 20,000. If anyone wants to volunteer to meet and greet at locations such as the airport, Showground etc. there is still time to do so. Peter Crozier and David Benn will be in the friendship pavilion.
Looks like we need a new photo Lawrie! You look much younger. (Ed.)
Rotary Information.
Peter Crozier provided the following information for our enlightenment.

When Rotary partners with other organizations, we multiply the impact made by either group on their own. We call this “the Rotary effect.” From local food banks to global humanitarian organizations, we work with a wide variety of partners, including:
· Goodwill
· UNICEF
Sergeant's Session

Mark Sayer conducted his usual quiz which raises a good deal each week for the fine box. This week the quiz was about facebook. Interestingly the quiz was won by one of our more up-to-date senior members Wal Paton who was rewarded with a bottle of wine.

IFCR (International Fellowship of Cricketing Rotarians)
Jim Gibson sent Editor a photo and story relating to a trip made to UK recently.
Jim said:
This is the e-mail I told you about earlier
The other link is to IFCR and is www.rotarycricket.org – click onto Australia news then 2013 tour. The very last item relates to the Bourne UK club sponsorship of the facility names SENSE for Blind and Deaf people.
It is a very good story and truly reflects the Rotary motto “Service above Self”
If you copy the link above and paste it in the URL on your web browser you will be able to read the article Jim is talking about.
The fines collected from the Rotarians contributed to the purchase of a kiln for SENSE an organisation for Blind and Deaf people. Below is an email relating to that as well as a photo of the kiln.
Attached is a photo of the new kiln for the Bourne Resource Centre which is being installed today.
Standing beside it is Dawn, the centre's potter, she is absolutely delighted. They hope to be able to fire it up for the first time next week.
Once again many thanks to IFCR Australia for their kind donation from the tour fines last year which has helped make this possible.
Could you please send me an electronic version of your IFCR Australia logo as I want to put it on the plaque that will be "unveiled" next month at the Centre to mark the presentation of the kiln.
Many Thanks

Best Regards
Norman
Smithy wanted us all to see Mark Hillis about to board a light aircraft.
John said:"If you are interested in a pic of Mark Hillis just prior going for a flight
in a Piper Cub aircraft.
As you know Mark hates flying and was forced into this flight because of his
claims that he always wanted a flight in a Cub (but without having to get
into an aeroplane)
