Martin Brown, Assistant Governor and member of the Rotary Club of Tumbarumba visited our club on behalf of DG Michael Moore. His purpose was to assess our Club and write a report for District. Martin updated us on a number of issues in our group of Clubs which is known as Area Three. Martin is halfway through his two year term as AG. Covid prevented visits last year but he is making up for it, visiting each club in area three.
A club development day is being organised for the 15th May, a venue is yet to be determined. Last Sunday was the first gathering of Presidents and President elects. Martin learnt that Wagga club is looking at a Swap Meet. Murrumbidgee and Kooringal are concerned about membership. Junee has provided toiletry bags for remote communities in Central Australia. Junee are considering Corporate memberships which allows employees to represent their employer's business at Rotary. Tumut club is organising the Snowy Valley cycle challenge.
Ron from Ron's removals is paying for storage for a heap of unwanted furniture he collected for bush fire victims. He would like assistance to dispose of furniture. Martin suggested possible auctioning it off with proceeds to go to bush fire victims.
Martin congratulated our club for its vibrancy and answered a few questions. He agreed with Mark Hillis' point that age of members is irrelevant if they are committed and bring skills and energy to the work of Rotary. Hear hear.
