On the tour, which is located at Victoria's largest brewery and home of some of Australia's favourite beers, we walked around the historic Abbotsford site with Lucy our leader. We were guided through over 100 years of brewing history and knowledge.  The sheer scale of this iconic facility on the banks of the Yarra was quite overwhelming. It is 20 acres in size which is equivalent to 8.09 hectares or 80,937 square metres!  An interesting fact we learned was that once the brewing process was finished with the yeast it was transported to farms for cattle consumption or sent to Kraft for inclusion in the manufacture of Vegemite. Members enjoyed sampling a flight of different beers with their lunch in the restaurant.
