Vancouver Fruit Tree Project

Ailsa Beischer is a board member with the Vancouver Fruit Tree Project.  

The Vancouver Fruit Tree Project (VFTP) began in 1999 to divert fruit that would otherwise go to waste, for distribution to people in our community affected by poverty, hunger, mental illness, or other social barriers. Fruit is generously donated from the hundreds of tree owners. To date, the project has delivered over 68,000 pounds of fruit to daycares, senior’s homes, assisted living centres, women’s shelters, community centres, and neighbourhood houses. This fruit rescue program engages over 450 volunteers, and benefits the approximately 8,000 citizens that are supported by network of Community Partners.  https://vancouverfruittree.com.
