Ukranian Orphanage

In November 2007 Rotarian Angie Jaworsky flew from Vancouver to Vienna to Vliv in the Ukraine. From there it was 1 1/2 hours by car to Dobromil where she stayed in a hotel 10 min. walk from the Dobromil Orphanage. The orphanage used to have 80 or 90 children and two very small, old washing machines for the children's clothes. The Orphanage has two old and outdated commercial size washers for doing the sheets, but these are not suitable for smaller items. The Orphanage has now 130 children and they were desperate for washers and dryers. Angie purchased 6 washers and 6 dryers and another donation from the Council General for Canada paid for the hot water heaters for each washer. These machines are in daily use with each machine doing 25 children's clothes. There are two paid supervisors that do the laundry with the help of the older children - who they teach about separating darks and whites. The washers and dryers have made a huge difference in these children's daily lives.
