In 1985 there was 1,000 cases a day being diagnosed around the world.
Rotary International is now to committed to one billion dollars.
The Bill Gates Foundation has raised 355 Million dollars and Rotary has raised 155 million dollars so far.
We are hoping to have 200 million raised by the New Orleans convention.
Many celebrities have joined the contributions like Desmond Tutu, Jane Goodall, Isaac Pearlman and the Queen of Jordan just to name a few.
We still have cases in Nigeria, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan.
Only 12 new cases reported this year but this is still 12 too many.
%10 of North American children are not vaccinated for one reason or another.
Polio is only a plane ride away.
Rotary Foundation also supports the Rotary Centre for International Studies.
The peace and conflict program is run there.
We can nominate candidates for this program.
We have Global and District Scholarships.
There are 38,000 scholars from 110 countries.
This is the former Ambassadorial scholar program.
We also have District grants for local and International projects.
We are looking for larger projects to fund now, as the administration is simpler.
Global grants raise money to the 3 to 1 level.
If we raise $10,000 that becomes $30,000 to work with. That way we can do large water projects.
A vocational team now was the Group Study exchange program.
One Rotarian to lead the team of young professionals who are non-Rotarians.
The Rotary foundation is Unique in the world.
It raises $100 million a year with a membership of just 34,ooo clubs.
We are a small but dedicated group. We are a Four Star charity, as we have no administration costs.
We hold the funds raised in banks for 3 year and that provides the 4% administrational costs and the 9% promotion fees.
100% of the dollars raised goes to purpose it was raised for.
