Project Civil City

Mr Geoff Plant.
Vancouver is an amazing city but Street disorder is a blight on our community. The City hired me as a consultant really. My aim is to encourage people to work together to make this a safe and secure place for us all.
We have set 4 targets or goals for ourselves.
Project Civil City Targets for 2010
Homelessness
â?Ã'¢ Increase housing opportunities and eliminate homelessness, with at least a 50% reduction by 2010
Open Drug Market
Eliminate the open drug market on Vancouver's streets, with at least a 50% reduction by 2010
Aggressive Panhandling
Eliminate the incidence of aggressive panhandling, with at least a 50% reduction by 2010
Public Satisfaction
Increase the level of public satisfaction with the City's handling of public nuisance and annoyance complaints by 50% by 2010
Homelessness is a Provincial responsibility not a Federal one.
How to get our citizens engaged in this project.
The City has identified 12 sites to develop as potential affordable housing.
We need to provide some stability in people's lives. Some dignity then we can tackle the question of mental health.
Many facilities were shut down 10 years ago. We have poor service's today. Some places have been built but not enough.
We must do a better job.
A community court modeled on the Manhattan one is being set up on trial. We have high hopes for this.
We must demand accountability from our politicians.
