Ordinary People doing Extraordinary Things!

Saturday morning members of our club joined other volunteers to pack a forty foot container with dental chairs, hospital beds, medical supplies, computers and school books. The replacement value of these things is hundreds of thousands of dollars. For a well leveraged $2500 we were able to sponsor the shipment of this container to the Rotary Club of Mactan, Lapulapu City, Philippines. Working with Rotarians on the other end ensures that these items will not go to corrupt government officials, and that they are getting goods that they need and want. The Rotary World Help Network accepts donations from government, hospitals, schools etc when they upgrade their facilities. Volunteers spend many hours sorting and organizing these donations before packing day. Without the Rotary World Help Network these items would all wind up in a land fill. Instead they will help countless people. The global economic crisis is causing many Filipino families to put food ahead of education or health care - the timing of this shipment couldn't be better!
