People are living longer - life expectancy in 1900 was age 47, by 2000 it was 77! This is due to advances in health care and medical services. Research says that a child born today could live to 140! 82% of seniors today living at home have a chronic condition that robs them of their independence. Today an adult will spend an average of 18 years caregiving parents, spouse and siblings. 82% of people widowed are women and only 18% are men. This all adds up to a new definition of retirement because of increased longevity.
