The monthly Friday evening mingles have been well received. The next one is on Sept. 27th. You are invited to a mingle event with Terminal City Club members and guests. This is an excellent event to invite friends and colleagues to so they can have a casual introduction to our Club. It's an evening to enjoy each other's company, play pool or darts, listen to some music and generally have a good time. Registration is required in advance.

Des was an incredible husband, father, grandpa and person. He joined Rotary in 1988 and our club in 1990. A Paul Harris Fellow +6 and active Rotarian for many years. Let us remember this incredible man by sharing our happiest memories of him on:

Coast Mental Health Foundation will be running a Holiday Gift Wrapping Centre at the Pacific Centre Mall over the holiday season with 100% of the proceeds raised going to support Coast Mental Health. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for volunteer activities. Not just our members but our families and friends as well. If you know of any teenagers who'd like to help, undoubtedly they'd be welcome too.

Kinbrace—a local organization dedicated to supporting refugee claimants will be hosting a "Ride for Refuge" on October 5th at 3:00-5:00 p.m. It is a family-friendly bike and walk fundraiser designed to support the wellbeing of refugee claimants. There are currently over 126 million forcibly displaced people around the world, and we are seeing a steep increase of need here in Vancouver. The funds raised at this event will help incredibly.
They are desperately in need of volunteers to assist on event day, including participant check-in, cheerleaders of the riders, set-up, and take-down. A team of Rotarians would be absolutely amazing. After the ride, you would be more than welcome to join us for some live music, a light meal provided by Bosa Foods, and inspiring firsthand experience sharing from refugee claimants who have successfully established their lives in Canada.
The 2024 theme “Literacy: The Ripple Effect” demonstrates how literacy programs have the potential to create a ripple effect contributing to a more prosperous economy, healthier populations, safer workplaces and more connected communities.

This week, we had an amazing business panel, moderated by Rotarian Joan Posivy.
On the panel were Gordon Esau, a retired lawyer who started with a firm as 1 of 3 lawyers, which grew over the years to be the world's largest firm - Dentons. Mellisa Mills, the Founder and CEO of Spread'em, who grew a stand at the farmers market into into a multi-million dollar business, and Peter Jackman, GM & CEO of the Terminal City Club. Under Peter's guidance, the Club has earned the prestigious Platinum Club status, held by the top 1% of private clubs worldwide.
The conversation revolved around their most memorable career moments, their biggest challenges and greatest accomplishments and successes.
All agreed that kindness, passion for what you do, care for your team, focus and dedication are some of the most significant contributors to success.
